Just Cancel the @#%$* Account!
Which Web sites make it easy to cancel? And which ones act like the worst boyfriend ever, stalking you long after you've let them know it's over, refusing to take no for an answer? Let me put it this way: you are guaranteed to find love on True.com—that is, True.com's love for your bank account. And NetZero is aptly named for what it will bring to your life. Read all about it. What's scary is that even the so-called no-hassle sites still sound to me like a hassle. I mean, an exit interview? What is this, the CIA?

I've heard a lot of stories about people trying to cancel AOL accounts. It's good to see in your link that AOL were finally hit for $25 million in a class action suit in Illinois. Serve them right! It's a pity others don't take the hint.
