Poll: What is your best time of day?
I'm a morning person. Almost everyone else seems to be an evening person. I've got some theories on what makes a morning person or an evening person, but no real evidence for them. So I'm taking a poll:

What's your best time of day?

Morning. The sooner I start my day, the better.
11(39.3%)
Evening. I don't even start to hit my stride until mid-afternoon.
9(32.1%)
The middle of the the night. I do my best work while everybody else is in bed.
4(14.3%)
Any time's a great time for a nap.
4(14.3%)

Are you male or female?

Male.
2(7.1%)
Female.
26(92.9%)
None of your business.
0(0.0%)

Age: please choose the earliest event that took place within your lifetime.

World War II (1939-1945)
0(0.0%)
The Vietnam War (1959-1975)
22(78.6%)
The fall of the Berlin Wall (1989)
6(21.4%)
9/11/2001
0(0.0%)
None of your business.
0(0.0%)

Tickybox?

Yes, please.
21(77.8%)
No, thank you.
6(22.2%)

I'm a morning person now out of necessity, and I kind of prefer it, but in college and grad school I was definitely a night owl. Midnight was "early" in those days, and I did a lot of good work in the wee hours.

What does "tickybox?" mean?

"Tickybox" is just a counter to determine how many people took the poll, just in case not everybody answers every question. I probably don't need it for this poll, but I have it here as a fun little frill.

Ticky Booooooooooooooooooooooox!
:)

Once I am awake, I am awake, and providing I have had a reasonable sleep before hand (say 4 hours) I am up and doing again. This is partly genetic, but mainly hyperactivity social conditioning from my parents who always get up at the crack of dawn.

Oh, I thought a tickybox was the square kind (as opposed to radio buttons).

It should be, but I thought that giving people a choice between yes and no would trick more of them into ticking the tickybox.

Been a morning person all my life. Really EARLY in the morning, too!

The only drawback I can see is that no one can call me after 7:30 p.m.!!!!

Excellent! When you come to visit, you and FoolMan can hang out at 4 AM, drinking tea and talking philosophy. Or cats.

I can be a morning or an evening person, but mornings come more naturally to me. (Middle of the night--no way, Jose.) What I can't do is switch rapidly between the two. When my sleep pattern is messed up, it takes me weeks of misery to adjust. Don't even talk to me about changing time zones when we travel.

FoolMan has to be up at 3:30 on weekday mornings, but come Friday he's fine with going to a party and staying until midnight and then sleeping in on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Or if play rehearsals or such things keep him up late (late, that is, for someone getting up at 3:30--so we're talking past 9:30 or so) during the week, he just has to grab a few 20 minute catnaps during the day and he's fine. I hate him, really.

Oh--and I ticked ticky box because I liked the sound of it, and I very much suspect I want one. (Hope they're not too expensive.) Even after reading your explanation to mike, I'm still not sure what it means.

E-F, clueless
