Faulkner, or machine translation from German?
Take the test. It's not an easy one.

Too funny. I can't say I put all my energy into the quiz, but still, I only got 33%!

I know, I got 50% and I actually sweated it a little bit. It's a tricky little bastard.

Phew! As you say not easy, but I got them all right! I don't know (or like!) Faulkner but I do know German and that was critical. There were some idiomatic giveaways and some translated naturally back into German while others didn't. But it was fun, and highlights the true quality of Faulkner's writing. I mean, if you can't tell it from Shinola...

I'm far from speaking fluent German but I thought I did know a few things about German sentence structure. They didn't help me, though.

I don't care, I still like Faulkner.

Haha - I've studied Faulkner, and I did recognise a couple of the quotes, but I still only got 58%!
