This morning I took Stella for a walk on a different route than usual, and found a box with free copies of The Onion in it! It actually had some local entertainment listings. Apparently they've launched a DC edition. Yay! Now I don't have to hate my brother anymore for not reading every word of every edition of The Onion when he lived in Minneapolis, where apparently they've been handing out free copies of the thing for years.
And then this afternoon I happened to follow a link from Slate to the Onion site and I found this brilliant story from 2002:"The United States will not stand idly by while people or insects who despise everything we stand for develop weapons of mass infection," Bush said. "The only way to fight a pestilence such as this is to attack it right where it breeds—in this case, the lands to the west of the Nile River."

Read it and weep. Or laugh, it's up to you.
