Am I normal?
I finished The Yiddish Policemen's Union last night. O.M.G.: except for one minor detail that annoyed me, it was the best book I've read this year. Beg, borrow, steal, but whetever you do, read this book.

Now I've got the new Harry Potter on deck, but honestly it feels like a bit of a chore to me. I'm more tempted to read some nice Jennifer Weiner, and then there's the copy of Oliver Sacks's book Cycad Island that miketroll was nice enough to send to me, which looks awfully good.

If I put off Harry Potter for just another week or two, am I a freak? Will you still speak to me? I mean, it's not as if there will ever be another Potter book (we hope). So I might as well not read it until I'm ready to enjoy it, right?

Read Cycad Island! HP7 can wait! I haven't started HP2 yet!

I won't stone you! I have to find out what happens to Harry and the whole wizarding world, but honestly I feel like the series peaked at Prisoner of Azkaban and it's been downhill ever since.

Read whatever you're in the mood for - don't force HP on yourself. :D I'll be sitting somewhere *pointing vaguely* over there, ready to discuss Deathly Hallows when you've read it. I hope you enjoy your next read as much as The Yiddish Policemen's Union.

Book 7 is about 110% better than the last two books have been (re: your peaked at Azkaban comment below). You can rest assured that I'll still be reading it no matter when you start it ;)

OMG!!!!! I'm pretty sure The Red and the Black is my all-time favorite novel. I can't wait to have someone else to discuss it with (I know, I know, but I couldn't stand to type "with whom").
