"I have an affection for a great city. I feel safe in the neighbourhood of man, and enjoy the sweet security of the streets."
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
The thing is, I have no idea whether it's authentic or not. All I can find on Google is that isolated line, attributed to Longfellow, with no clue as to which larger work it came from (or whether he said it in a speech, or whatever).
Does anybody have any ideas?
